'Descriptive words for surrounding colours'
A piece of bridal satin with a stitched grid of white polyester. The transfer paint took 20 minutes to achieve this amount of colour (as have all the transfer painted satin I have used further on). I followed the directions carefully, using cheap polyester 'bridal satin' then a warmish iron gradually increasing the heat to such an extent that the nappy liner sabiliser stuck to the satin. I have found the transfer painted satin experiments extremely unsatisfactory and have tried several times to achieve a pleasing result to no avail.
I have been collecting pictures of lines and have bought a wonderful book of Manet paintings in preparation for future chapters.
There must be a better way of organising these pictures into some kind of gallery but haven't discovered it yet.
